Training and Development

Top Gun has a ‘continual improvement’ program that is focused on making sure its staff and team members are fully qualified to the extent necessary to exceed our clients expectations in the installation practices.

Most all Top Gun PM’s, Supervisors and Leading Hands are qualified to a minimum of Cert 3 Landscaping with the balance of the operations team in various stages of completion of that qualification.

Top Gun also has a ’12 Point Culture’ plan which is designed to ensure that all team members are working at an optimal level both in terms of installation efficiencies, quality outcomes and satisfied clients.

MISSION

To be considered the most reliable, technically proficient and cost effective ‘contractor of choice’ within the landscape and environmental management sector.

VISION

Our vision is to be known as a contractor of choice within the environmental management sector and known for high quality, safe, cost effective and profitable on-time outcomes that exceed the client’s expectations.

12 POINTS OF CULTURE

Top Gun’s culture is defined by these defining ‘points of culture’ and the company expects all its team members to promote, internalise and commit to making these points a constant and ongoing focus of their activities within the company and in their personal lives.

  1. Safety – We are constantly mindful of the need to ensure that safety on our job sites and workplace is constantly a part of our individual and collective focus and is not jeopardised from lack of focus and concentration at key times.
  2. Commitment – We give ourselves and everything we commit until we succeed. We are committed to the Vision, Mission, Culture and success of our company, our peers, and our clients at all times.
  3. Ownership – We are truly responsible for our individual actions and outcomes and own everything that takes place in our work and our personal life. We are accountable for our own results and we know that for things to change, first we as individuals must change.  We treat the company’s assets as if they were our own and look after those assets in a responsible and respectful manner.
  4. Integrity – We speak the truth. What we promise is what we deliver. We only ever make agreements with ourselves and others that we are willing and intend to keep.  We communicate potential broken agreements immediately and rectify quickly.  We are honest in our dealings with our clients and with our fellow team members.
  5. Excellence – ‘Good enough’ isn’t. We always deliver outcomes of exceptional quality that exceed our client’s expectations.  We look for ways to do more with less and stay on a path of consistent and never-ending improvement and innovation.  We work with energy and maximum efficiency.
  6. Communication – We speak positively of our fellow team members, clients and our company in both public and private. We speak with good purpose using empowering and positive conversation and avoid sarcasm and gossip.  We refrain from using foul of degrading language and use appropriate forms of language to communicate to fellow team members and clients.  We acknowledge what is being said as true for the speaker at that moment and we take responsibility for responses to our communication.  We greet and farewell people using their name.  We always apologise for any upsets first and then look for a solution.  We only ever discuss concerns in private with the person involved.
  7. Success – We totally focus our thoughts, energy and attention on the successful outcome of whatever we are doing. We are willing to win and allow others to win:  Win/Win.  At all times, we display our inner pride, prosperity, competence and personal confidence.  We view ourselves as a group of highly successful people.
  8. Education – We learn from our mistakes. We consistently learn, grow and master so that we can help our fellow team members and our clients learn, grow and master too.  We impart practical and usable knowledge freely with an ‘abundance’ mentality in the knowledge that any and all team or individual improvement will benefit each team member, the company and its clients.
  9. Team Work – We are each a team player and team leader. We do whatever it takes to stay together and achieve team goals in a safe and profitable way.  We focus on co-operation and always come to a resolution, not a compromise.  We are flexible in our work and able to change if what we are doing is not working or is in contravention of established safe working practices.  We ask for help when we need it and we are compassionate to others who ask us for our help and support.
  10. Systems – We always look to our systems and processes for a solution. If a challenge arises we use a system correction before we look for a people correction.  We use a system solution in our innovation rather than a people solution.  We follow systems until a new system is introduced and suggest system improvements at the first opportunity.
  11. Consistency – We are consistent in our actions so our fellow team members and clients so that they can feel comfortable in dealing with us at all times. We are disciplined in our work, attitudes, processes and systems so our results, growth and success are consistent.  We are consistent in our presentation both in terms of our dress, attire and other physical impressions and also in our presentation of the company’s objectives, mission, vision and overall aspirations.
  12. Gratitude & Abundance – We are truly a grateful team of individuals. We say thank-you and show appreciation often and in many ways, so that all around us know how much we appreciate everything and our fellow team members.  We celebrate our wins and the wins of our fellow team members, and clients.  We consistently catch ourselves and other people doing things ‘right’.  We have an ‘abundance’ mentality.  We allow abundance in all areas of our life by respecting our own self-worth and that of all others.  We are rewarded to the level that we create abundance for others and we accept that abundance only shows up in life to the extent and level to which we ‘show up’.
